Too much birthday? These were actually taken a day or 2 after his (first) birthday party. He fell asleep on the couch, but he was still holding his balloon in a tight grip!

Happy Birthday Avery (day care party)

Birthday Party at daycare! Everyone sang "Happy Birthday" (in English and Spanish) and enjoyed cupcakes, Wonder Pets decor, balloons, and goody bags.

Big Boy Bed!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Avery! He is still sleeping in his crib, but we got a new big boy bed for him. He was so excited to see it:

(In the video you can hear him say "gracias" which sounds like "Asi!"

Happy Birthday to You: Avery is Two!

What a great party! We celebrated at the same place that Avery ran away to: the ECC's playground. It had been raining off and on for the past few days, but the afternoon of the party was warm and sunny and perfect for a party! I think everyone had a great time. The kids got to play in the sandbox and run around, and the adults got to chat and sit in the shade. There were LOTS of kids!

"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday you you! Happy Birthday dear Avery! Happy Birthday to you!"

Family photo! Sans Avery b/c he was having too much fun to stand still for a photo!

In the evening, we ate pizza at home and opened presents. Avery was starving! He had been so busy playing at his party, that he hadn't eaten anything besides maybe one or two mini cupcakes.

mini-vacay, not a moment too soon

After such a stressful week, we were glad to go up to Massachusetts for the weekend. We stayed at a hotel with an indoor pool, which we took full advantage of, and which was conveniently located to the giant Yankee Candle flagship store. We hadn't been there since before Avery was born, and we had forgotten how kid-friendly it is, with a huge "winter wonderland" section where it "snows" every 4 minutes, a candy land and toy store, ice cream parlour, a show with scary animatronic geezers who sing cheesy songs about skunks and bears, and of course, candles. Lots of candles. We also went to our friend Dale's birthday party, where Avery enjoyed splashing in the kiddie pool, playing with dogs, and eating lots of watermelon. We decided to take the long, scenic drive home, mostly just to enjoy the ride and to look for a perfect road-side ice cream parlor, which we found.
